The cargo ferry service for the Aran Islands has been extended for another year.
Gaeltacht Minister Eamon O Cuiv announced €930,000 extra funding for the provision of the vital service from the mainland.
This cash will facilitate the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs' plans to initiate a competition for a five-year contract to operate from Ros an Mhil from January 2008.
