Archdeacon Raymond Gordon Finney Jenkins, who was Archdeacon of Dublin from 1961 to 1974, has died.

Archdeacon Raymond Gordon Finney Jenkins, who was Archdeacon of Dublin from 1961 to 1974, has died.

Born in September 1898, he worked in the Royal Bank before entering Trinity College. He was ordained a deacon in 1930 and a priest in 1931. and served as a curate in St Thomas's parish, Dublin, from 1930 to 1933 and subsequently in St Bartholomew's parish from 1933 to 1934. In 1934 he became Warden of Divinity Hostel, where he stayed full-time until his appointment as Rector of Grangegorman in 1939. In 1962 he was appointed Chancellor of St Patrick's Cathedral. He retired from full-time ministry in 1976.
