Armagh are set to once more appeal this morning's ruling on the part of the Games Administration Committee (GAC), reports indicate.

The GAC upheld the disciplinary punishment handed down to Diarmuid Marsden, following his sending off in the All-Ireland final. Now, however, sources within Armagh indicate that this latest decision would itself be appealed to the GAA's Central Council.

It is believed such an appeal would be formulated at county board within the coming days.

The GAC's rejection of Marsden's appeal against his All-Ireland final dismissal means that he will miss Armagh's championship opener against Monaghan next year.

The full-forward received his marching orders after clashing with Tyrone's Philip Jordan in September but requested a personal hearing with the GAC in a bid to have the red card rescinded.

However, after last night's meeting, in which Armagh manager Joe Kernan and county board secretary Patrick Nugent were also present, the GAC took the decision to turn down Marsden's appeal.

A GAC statement said: "Following full consultation of all evidence available including video footage of the incident, it was decided by the GAC that the penalty imposed must stand."

Marsden has always maintained that Jordan had charged him off-the-ball and he had simply pushed the player away in self defence. Jordan himself has since admitted that he did not believe the incident to be pre-meditated.

However, after consulting with the umpires, match referee sent the Orchard County star from the field, a decision that was upheld last night.
