Three detectives arrested an armed man and recovered £40,000 after an attempted raid outside the AIB branch at Blanchardstown, Dublin, yesterday. A security man was moving the cash in a container from the bank to a security van when a raider grabbed the box and ran off.

He was caught by three detectives in the area at the time. It is believed £40,000 was recovered. Last night the man was being held at Blanchardstown Garda station.
