The hijacking of a truck containing leather suites in Co Monaghan last night is being investigated.

The hijacking of a truck containing leather suites in Co Monaghan last night is being investigated.

A masked, armed man forced the truck to stop near Mullacor, Emyvale, at 9 p.m. He then got into the vehicle and instructed the driver to drive to Aughnacloy where a second masked man got into the truck.

The driver was later released in Ballygawley area of Co. Tyrone. The truck has since been found burned out at Dromore but its yellow trailer unit, with the words "MSC" on the sides is missing.

The lorry was carrying 84 leather suites.
