Arrest over student murders in London

A man (21) has been arrested today in connection with the murders of two French students in London.

A man (21) has been arrested today in connection with the murders of two French students in London.

Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez, both 23, were bound, gagged and stabbed to death in a bedsit in New Cross, south London, on Sunday night.

The Metropolitan Police said the man was arrested at 3.40am and is being held at a police station in south-east London.

The two friends were living in the capital while they worked on a three-month DNA research project at Imperial College London.

Detectives are investigating possible links with an earlier burglary at the flat.

Police said a black Packard Bell laptop computer was taken in a burglary a week before the murders, while two Sony handheld games consoles were stolen last Sunday when Mr Bonomo and Mr Ferez were murdered.
