Children with asthma who are properly trained to manage their condition can take a full part in sport and other activities, according to the organisers of a new campaign.

The Asthma Society of Ireland and Boots the chemist are running a national asthma awareness campaign for four weeks starting later this month. This will include opportunities for people with asthma to test techniques for coping with the disease.

The incidence of asthma has doubled in the last decade and it is estimated that it affects a quarter of a million Irish people.
