The standing committee of the secondary teachers union, the ASTI is to undertake a consultative process of its more than 17,000 members on the Government’s payment offer for voluntary supervision and substitution.

Teachers have been offered €37 per hour for supervision and substitution work. Over the last two days the standing committee has been discussing the bench-marking report and the supervision dispute.

This evening the ASTI said nationwide information meetings would be held ahead of a special convention in October.

The ASTI said developments on the issue of substitution and supervision and said consultation with the widest possible number of members was required.
