Tennis: Unheralded Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis advanced to the Australian Open final today with a stunning five-set victory against Argentina's David Nalbandian.
Baghdatis, ranked 54 in the world and the conqueror of second seed Andy Roddick and seventh seed Ivan Ljubicic in previous rounds, won 3-6 5-7 6-3 6-4 6-4 in Melbourne.
A dramatic night on the Rod Laver Arena intensified when the match was stopped for rain with Baghdatis serving for the match - a tie in which he had to fight back from two sets down to win.
Baghdatis is competing in just his sixth grand slam event but he won the boys' event here in 2003, a year in which he established himself as the top junior in the world.
