Three men charged in connection with a family feud which allegedly spilled over in the presence of gardaí on bank holiday Monday were granted bail yesterday.
Michael Wall (37) and Terry Connors (32), Glenshane Grove, Tallaght, Dublin, were charged with possession of offensive weapons and public order offences at Tallaght bypass on Easter Monday.
Luke Kavanagh (31), Ballyogan Vale, Cabinteely, Dublin, was charged with threatening and abusive behaviour during the same alleged incident.
Dublin District Court was told that gardaí had stopped Mr Kavanagh's car at 7.15pm and were speaking to him when the two other men appeared, allegedly brandishing weapons.
Gardaí objected to bail for both men given the seriousness of the incident which they said occurred during daylight with a lot of traffic going by and a number of people, including children, standing at a nearby bus-stop.
They said it was part of a family feud and that Mr Wall, the "main instigator" of the incident, had been extremely aggressive in their presence.
Judge Derek McVeigh granted bail in all three cases subject to strict conditions.
Mr Wall and Mr Connors are to stay away from Mr Kavanagh who has agreed to stay with his brother in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. He has also undertaken to stay out of Dublin, except for court and legal advice visits, as part of his bail.
Judge McVeigh ordered all three to sign on daily at their local Garda stations.
Mr Wall and Mr Connors are to observe a curfew and stay away from Mr Kavanagh's Dublin home area and from Tullamore. Mr Connors is also stay at a halting site in Saggart, Co Dublin.
All three were remanded on bail to appear in Tallaght District Court next Monday.
