Two passenger ferries collided in a river in southern Bangladesh today, killing at least five people.

Two passenger ferries collided in a river in southern Bangladesh today, killing at least five people.

"We have recovered five bodies, and rescued nearly 80 injured people, but many could be dead or alive still trapped inside the vessels," a police officer said.

The accident happened nearly 280 kilometres south of the capital Dhaka.
