Barnardos, the leading agency for children and family advocacy, hopes to shed more light on specific pressures facing Irish parents in a new national survey starting today.
The survey - part of the agency's Parents Under Pressure Campaign - asks parents about the precise challenges that come with rearing children in modern-day Ireland.
Barnardos has linked up with Statoil to aid in the dissemination of the poll.
Over 200,000 postcards carrying the survey are available to parents at Statoil stations throughout the country.
The survey is also available online at www.barnardos.ie.
"Parents are rarely asked what is specifically pressuring them. Our campaign aims to highlight to both political parties and parents themselves what parenting problems exist in Ireland today," director of Fundraising and Communications, Ms Deirdre Mortell commented.
Barnardos hopes to release the collected survey results in October next to the Government and the public.
