London - British men are increasingly becoming the victims of domestic violence and are now just as likely as women to be physically assaulted by a partner, according to new Home Office research published yesterday.
The kind of man most likely to be attacked is in his early 30s and is not married but is living with a woman. The findings from the authoritative British Crime Survey also show that domestic violence is a major problem with an estimated 6.6 million incidents of assault in the home each year with the number evenly split between men and women.
