The Ulster Unionist MP for East Antrim has been forced to apologise to the House of Commons for failing to disclose property interests during debates. Mr Roy Beggs was criticised by both the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards and the Commons Committee on Standards and Privileges for failing to declare his interests in a landfill site in his constituency, when he talked about the issue in the House.

In a personal statement to the Commons, Mr Beggs yesterday described the omission as an oversight. The Commons Committee on Standards and Privileges yesterday agreed with the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, Ms Elizabeth Filkin, in upholding complaints that Mr Beggs failed to register his interest in a landfill site.
