A 32-year-old man is recovering after a "punishment" beating in west Belfast

A 32-year-old man is recovering after a "punishment" beating in west Belfast. He was kicked and punched by up to six men when he opened the door of his home in Gortfin Street, off the Grosvenor Road. He received treatment in hospital for face and hand injuries.

A Catholic church in Co Antrim has been targeted by arsonists. A petrol bomb was thrown at Tanaghmore Chapel, Fernisky Road, near Kells, causing scorch damage.

Meanwhile, a member of the Ulster Unionist talks team, Mr Steven King, has been sent a hoax letter bomb from a militant republican group. The device was sent to Queen's University, Belfast, where he is a senator. In a statement the Revolutionary Republican Strike Force admitted the attack.
