The south Dublin campaign against refuse charges will hold a march to Wheatfield prison tomorrow to protest against the jailing of six of its campaigners.
Four of the six anti-bin tax protesters are in Wheatfield prison. They are Mr John Murphy, Mr Oliver short, Mr Finian Smyth and Mr Oliver O'Reilly. The two others are Mr Fionn Ryder and Mr David Murphy and currently serving sentences in Mountjoy jail.
The campaign said that there is widespread anger in the communities in South Dublin at the treatment of honourable taxpayers.
"Ordinary people are contrasting their sentence and fine of €1,500 with the fact that wealthy Ansbacher account holders, corrupt councillors and big bankers have not even been to court to answer for real crimes," the campaign said in a statement.
The south Dublin campaign organiser, Mr Mick Murphy, is before the High Court on Monday and faces a jail term for his alleged involvement in protests against the refuse-tax.
Adding to its statement the south Dublin campaign said: "Like the six already in jail, his [Mr Murphy's] 'crime' is to be involved in peaceful protests against the policy of South Dublin County Council to leave uncollected the refuse bins of thousands of taxpaying householders".
The march to Wheatfield prison leaves from Palmerstown shopping centre at 4 p.m tomorrow.
