Airline Bmi today announced an increase in its flights from Heathrow airport which will include an extra daily flight to Dublin.

The company, which is the second largest airline at the London hub, will fly to 17 new destinations from October.

Most of the new flights will be to the Middle East, with a handful flying to the Caucasus and Africa. The new routes take the company's total to 50

Chief executive Nigel Turner said: "These new routes represent the single largest expansion of the Bmi brand in the history of the airline, and mark our continuing transition into a truly global airline."

The company also announced a number of flights would carry the airline's first flat beds.
