Naval divers today recovered the body of a Wexford diver who went missing while searching for the skipper of a sunken wreck last week.

Billy O'Connor (49) from New Ross failed to return to the surface after probing the Rising Sun, which sank six miles off the Co Wexford coast on November 29th.

The father-of-two went missing on Thursday of last week while searching for the body of the vessel's skipper Pat Colfer. It is understood that the Navy divers found Mr O'Connor's body at noon today, not far from the shipwreck which lies 51 metres below the surface.

Navy divers, who have been severely hampered by bad weather and poor diving conditions, will continue their search for Mr Colfer, a 37-year-old father of two from Slade in Co Wexford.
