Body of woman taken from river

The body of a woman in her 20s was taken from the River Shannon at Athlone, Co Westmeath, early yesterday. She was found by a boatman shortly before 8 a.m. at the town weir. The name of the woman, who is believed to have lived locally, is being withheld by gardai until her relatives have been informed.
