Indian actor Shammi Kapoor has died after a long career in Bollywood at the age of 79.
His doctor, Bhupendra Gandhi, said Kapoor was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital two days ago in a critical condition. He was on dialysis and died yesterday of kidney failure.
Kapoor was hailed for his light-hearted roles in movies. His brothers Raj and Shashi Kapoor also were successful actors like their father, Prithviraj Kapoor, a theatrical personality of the 1950s. Shammi Kapoor is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter. He made his debut in Bollywood in 1953 and acted in successful movies including Jungleeand Professor. He also appeared in Brahmachariand Janwar.– (AP)
