EQUIPMENT THAT could be used to make bombs was found in Dublin’s north inner city yesterday morning, along with heroin with a potential street value of €75,000.

The discovery was made in Paul Street after officers from the local drugs unit searched a house at about 7.30am. A Garda spokesman said they found half a kilogram of heroin with a street value of €75,000, along with “component parts for explosives”.

The area was sealed off, and a Defence Forces team examined the objects and gave the all-clear at 10am. A 20-year-old man was arrested, and taken to Store Street Garda station.

Separately, two men were arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at a post office in Bayside, Co Dublin, yesterday morning. A shot was fired.
