The RUC were last night dealing with a number of bomb warnings in the Magherafelt, Co Derry, area, and had recovered four devices. A telephone warning was given shortly after 6 p.m. but police said the locations of the alleged devices given were "vague and imprecise". The caller said a device was left on the Moneymore Road, which is some five miles long, and another one on the Desertmartin Road, which stretches for about four miles.
Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man was recovering in hospital this morning after being shot in both legs in the Summerhill Park area of Dunmurray about 11 p.m. last night.
