A London underground rail carriage is removed from the site of the Edgeware Road tube bombing in central London

The mangled carriage where seven people died in the bomb attack near Edgware Road Tube in London was last night removed.

The carriage was lifted by crane off the track on to a flatbed lorry.

It had already been winched out of the tunnel at the station where the explosion happened on Thursday July 7th last.

The sealed carriage was transported to a secure police compound for further forensic examination.

The wreckage, weighing around 20 tonnes, is all that remains of the carriage second from the front of the targeted Tube train.

The bomb was located in a standing area near the first set of double doors, police have said.

Since the explosion, police have been working to remove all the bodies of the victims before the carriage could be taken away.
