A bomb exploded at a Tesco-Lotus store in one of Bangkok's largest shopping malls, killing a store employee and seriously injuring a customer today.
Mr Niphon Hom-Im, 31, was killed instantly after opening a paper bag that had been placed in a store trolley and which apparently triggered the blast at 14:47 (GMT), minutes before the store was to close, police said.
A woman customer standing nearby in the second-floor sports section of the Seacon Square Tesco-Lotus branch, a suburban outlet for the kingdom's largest retailer, suffered injuries to her legs and eyes.
Police said an ordnance team was trying to determine what type of bomb caused the explosion.
The attack follows a similar incident Sunday in which a woman employee was injured at the Samut Prakarn branch of the national hyperstore, which was reportedly the target of a terror campaign.
