An amusing paradox in Confessions made me take special note of Chateau de Gourgazaud Minervois 1994 (outlets above usually £5.49). In 1988 Jancis Robinson decided to buy a house in France - in the Languedoc, not a "serious" wine area and thus ideal for escape from work. This soft red, all spiced plums and autumn sunshine, explains why. Outstanding value.
