An 11-year-old boy has been killed on a farm in Co Kilkenny. The boy is understood to have been injured by a potato harvester while walking on the farm near Mooncoin yesterday afternoon.
He was taken to hospital but died last night as a result of his injuries.
Officials from the Health & Safety Authority have launched an investigation into the incident. A spokesman said a number of inspectors were currently at the scene.
The boy is the thirteenth person to be killed on a farm this year. This compares to 11 fatalities for the same period last year.
