A 16-year-old boy has confessed to shooting dead his sleeping parents and 10-year-old twin brothers with a hunting rifle in Corsica.

Police found the four bodies and the rifle after he told them what he had done.

A spokeswoman said they were trying to determine what exactly happened in the incident which happened on Tuesday night in the village of Albitreccia.

The killings were only discovered a day later when the boy described the attack to an uncle. He described shooting his father and mother, aged 43 and 45, and brothers in their beds.

The victims’ identities have not yet been released by investigators.
