Swimming: Swimming: Irish swimmer Andrew Bree has accepted the result of his positive doping test taken at the European Short Course Course Championships in Hungary last December.
The Belfast swimmer tested positive for the banned substance Levomethamphetamine, which he has said came from using the US version of the Vicks decongestant product. He has chosen not to have his B Sample analysed and therefore accepts the result.
Bree, who is on a scholarship at Tennessee University, holds the Irish record for the 200 metres breaststroke and is currently the only Irish swimmer qualified for the Olympics. He qualified for Beijing from the US Nationals last July.
In February he was awarded €12,000 by the Irish Sports Council (ISC) as an International category athlete but those funds have been suspended.
Last week the ISC expressed "surprise" and "disappointment" that the 26-year-old tested positive for a banned substance.
Bree is prevented from competing until his name is cleared which means his place at the Olympics in August remains uncertain. He is due to face a disciplinary hearing.
In 2002 Scottish skier Alain Baxter received a three month ban and was stripped of his Olympic bronze medal for using the same product.
