A bricklayer got so drunk on a flight from Spain to Ireland that he had no recollection of urinating on the seats in front of disembarking passengers, a court heard yesterday.

Donal Barrett (23), from Coppeen, Enniskeane, Co Cork, pleaded guilty at Cork District Court to being so intoxicated as to be danger to himself or others, and to causing criminal damage to the seats on an Aer Lingus flight from Malaga to Cork on March 22nd.

Barrett's solicitor Frank Buttimer said his client was "very, very embarrassed and very apologetic", and had paid €320 to Aer Lingus for the damage he caused to seats and seatbelts.

Judge Uinsinn MacGruairc convicted Barrett and fined him €600 for the two offences.
