Charles took the decision after finding out that the prince had taken drugs at Highgrove private parties, and drank alcohol at the Rattlebone Inn, Sherston, Wiltshire, the newspaper said.

In a separate article to be published in the Mail on SundayPrince Harry is in the centre of a police investigation into after-hours drinking at a pub near his Highgrove home.

The inquiry began after the prince, who is now 17, was allegedly involved in a mock fight during a late night pool playing session, called a French employee a "f***ing frog" and was ordered to leave the premises.

The landlady of the Rattlebone Inn in Sherston, Wiltshire, Emma Carter-Williams, reportedly told the newspaper: "Everyone knows Prince Harry's barred but I don't want to talk about it. He's not the only one."

Prince Harry is the second son of the late Princess Diana.
