British airline, BMI Midland, has confirmed it will cut 600 jobs or 10 per cent of its workforce, joining the growing line of airlines suffering from the sudden economic downturn.

The company which operates routes to London and Birmingham from Dublin will also be grounding eight aircraft.

A company spokeswoman could not confirm if any Irish-based jobs would be lost in the cost cutting plan.
