Police in Manchester are investigating a claim that Cork soccer star Roy Keane was involved in a row with a teenage boy near his home in Hale, Greater Manchester.
Keane flew out to France today for Manchester United's Champions League match against Lyon and refused to answer questions from reporters over the alleged assault.
The Daily Mirrorreported this morning that the boy (16) claimed Keane (33) assaulted him during an argument on September 4th. The football player is said to have been taking his dog for a walk on Hale Golf Course when the row erupted.
Keane looked surprised at the mass of TV and press cameramen waiting at Manchester Airport when he arrived.
He quickly jumped the queue of other United players and officials who were signing autographs and chatting to fans as they waited to board. Keane went to the check-in desk to show his passport then headed directly for VIP "Fast Lane" departures.
It is not yet known when the Irish international will be questioned by Greater Manchester Police.
