Election workers for the Government ail presidential candidate, Prof Mary McAleese, have complained to RTE that she was not invited onto last night's Questions & Answers to debate with Ms Banotti. Sources close to the campaign said they were "disappointed with the decision of RTE's steering committee not to put both women around the table".

RTE will today announce its schedule for campaign coverage, which will include live televised debates between all five candidates.

It is understood E is believed to be planning debates are planned for the Late Late Show on October 17th and Prime Time on October 28th. Roundtable radio debates may also be organised for the morning Pat Kenny programme, and for Sat- urday View on October 25th.

Independent Network News (INN), which supplies an hourly news service to 21 independent radio stations broadcast to 1.5 million listeners daily, has asked the candidates if they are interested in a live radio debate. This follows a request for a debate from the Fine Gael candidate, Ms Mary Banotti.
