Two young brothers were today charged with attempted murder after a nine-year-old boy and his 11-year-old uncle were attacked and injured in Britain.

The pair, aged 10 and 11, are accused of attacking the youngsters in Edlington, Doncaster, on Saturday afternoon.

The young victims are continuing to receive hospital treatment after they were found with serious injuries.

Police were alerted at 2pm on Saturday when a nine-year-old boy was found wandering covered in blood in Auburn Road, Edlington.

The youngster told the people who found him where to find his friend - an 11-year-old who is actually his uncle. The older child was later found semi-conscious in a nearby wooded ravine.

People living nearby said the pair were attacked with a brick and slashed with a knife.

People who helped the younger boy said he was so covered in mud and dried blood it was impossible to see his skin. He also had a very deep cut on his arm.

As they did their best to help him, he pleaded with them to help his uncle.

The elder boy was airlifted to Sheffield Children’s Hospital where his condition was said to have improved today from critical to stable.

He has been taken off a ventilator and moved to a high-dependency ward, but police said they were not expecting to be able to speak to him today.
