The blaze which broke out at Buckingham Palace this evening is reported to have been put out. The fire is believed to have started in a corridor between the ballroom and the State Rooms.
Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the roof of the West Terrace for over an hour. It is not known how far the fire had spread outside the corridor.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said he could not comment on the cause of the fire.
The fire had cast doubt over tomorrow’s pop concert in the Palace gardens would go ahead, but the event's organisers have confirmed that it will.
Dozens of stars including Ozzy Osbourne and the Corrs were at the Palace preparing for tomorrow's Jubilee concert.
No members of the Royal Family were present - and the concert will probably go ahead as planned, organisers said. PA PA
