A BURGLAR dived head first through a window to avoid arrest, Kilmainham District Court heard. David Cooney (17) of Fatima Mansions, Dublin, pleaded guilty to breaking into a house at Rothe Abbey on South Circular Road, on November 13th. He was leaving by the front door when gardai arrived, and he ran back into the house.

Garda Maurice O'Mahony chased him into the kitchen, where he dived head first through the window to escape. However, Garda Walter Sweeney was at the back of the house and caught him.

Cooney was released on bail and Garda Sweeney caught him again the next night, coming out of the skylight of a house on Haroldville Avenue, Rialto. Judge Gillian Hussey heard he was serving a sentence, and she remanded him to December 3rd for old probation reports.
