US President George Bush will travel to New York in September to address the United Nations General Assembly, the White House said today.

The president will travel to New York for September 24th-26th to participate in the opening of the UnitedNations General Assembly, the White House said in a statement.He will attend the opening of the general debate and address the General Assembly on September 24th.

Secretary-General Kofi Annan said earlier this week he hoped a check for UN debts the United States promised to pay months ago would be in the mail before Mr Bush addresses the United Nations.

While in New York, Mr Bush will also have meetings with several foreign leaders, the White House statement said.
