Jenson Button is geared up for a return to the points after a productive three-day test at Monza. The 24-year-old failed to score last weekend in Belgium after his Michelin tyre exploded, putting him out of the race.
But he has spent the last three days putting his tyres through their paces around Monza, as well as fine-tuning the set-up of his BAR, and hopes that will pay dividends when the track hosts next weekend's Italian Grand Prix.
He said: "We had a solid couple of days' testing and completed all the work we set out to do with very little interruption, which was most important. Our tyre testing went well and the car felt good around the track. I am confident that we will be competitive in Monza next week and I'm looking forward to the race."
Fellow Englishman Anthony Davidson relished the chance to get behind the wheel of a BAR after the summer testing ban restricted his duties.
The Hemel Hempstead-born driver is BAR tester and also runs in practice on the Friday morning of a grand prix weekend so the summer break cut his workload dramatically.
He said: "We have had a good three days at Monza this week and it has been great to get back into the testing following the summer break. We completed the majority of our planned programme, focusing particularly on tyre and aerodynamic evaluations, with some longer runs.
"Overall it was a positive test and the team feels hopeful of a strong performance at the Italian Grand Prix next weekend."
