Athletics: Aoife Byrne was unable to make any impression on the 1,500 metres heats at the European Championships in Gothenburg this morning.
The 25-year-old, running in the second of the two heats, trailed home in 15th place, her time of 4 minutes 16.07 seconds over 10 seconds behind Bulgaria's Daniela Yordanova.
Later today Derval O'Rourke runs in her 100 metres hurdles semi-finals (5.10pm Irish time) while Deirdre Ryan will be hoping for a good showing in the final of the high jump.
