The Oireachtas committee on the environment is to consider asking the Comptroller and Auditor General to undertake a cost-benefit analysis of the long-term provision of water services. The suggestion was made by Kildare North TD Catherine Murphy (Ind).
The committee’s chairman, Labour TD Ciaran Lynch, said it could consider making such a recommendation when it compiled a report on the takeover of water investment and maintenance by the proposed new State company, Irish Water.
