The Government should seek an end to the dumping of food in poor countries in its approach to the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, according to Comhlamh, the association of returned development workers. "Ireland's stand on the disposal of surpluses is a litmus test of our attitude to the Third World. If we insist on disposing of our beef below cost, irrespective of the impact on the poorest of the poor, it will show that we are not sincere in our statements about our willingness to help them", said Mr Sean O Breasail, a spokesman for the group.
