Almost 20,000 more householders in the South Dublin County Council area will have to pay bin charges from April, Labour councillor Eamon Tuffy said last night.
He called on the Government to introduce a national bin waiver system.
Waivers to lower-income households in south Dublin and their entitlement to a certain number of free black and brown bin lifts will end in April, he said.
Households which had a waiver will have to pay a fixed charge of €60 if they wish to continue with the Greyhound waste disposal service, Mr Tuffy said.
