AN alarmed reader rang The Irish Times newsdesk last Monday. Four RUC Land Rovers and a Saracen armed personnel carrier were proceeding along the quays and obviously heading for either the Aras or Government Buildings. Was it a pre-election coup? No, the gardai told us.
The convoy was part of the props for a movie being shot in Dublin. Jim Sheridan's The Boxer, starring Daniel Day Lewis, tells the story of a Provo who comes out of prison in the North and takes up boxing. Much of it is set in Belfast but locations around Dublin are being used over the 14 weeks shooting schedule. So expect to see more of same.
