Rangers striker Claudio Caniggia will be fit for Argentina's World Cup opener against Nigeria on June 2nd.

The former Roma and Dundee striker suffered a knee injury after colliding with Celtic’s Chris Sutton in the Scottish Cup final.

Caniggia's agent told Rangers.co.uk: "Claudio is fine and will arrive in Tokyo later today with the rest of the Argentina squad. He is running now and the doctors have told him he will be fit to play against Nigeria on June 2nd. He is delighted.

"He was a little worried about his injury at first but he has been training well and is preparing to leave Italy for the final preparations in Japan".
