Cardinal to lecture in Dublin

Cardinal Basil Hume will be speaking at the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre, College Green, Dublin, at 7.15 p.m. on Monday next. The lecture has been organised by the Lillie Road Centre group of boys' homes in London. According to the group's manager, Father Ken McCabe, it hopes to establish a similar home in Ireland.

Cardinal Hume is patron of the group, and will speak on the plight of marginalised children in his address. Included among the group's sponsors are Lord Longford, the British Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw, Mr Justice Declan Costello, Dr Tony O'Reilly, Prof Anthony Clare, Dame Shirley Williams, Dave Allen, and Michael Parkinson.

Mr Justice Costello will also address Monday's meeting, as will Mr Robbie Gilligan of TCD, and Prof Dorota Iwaniec of Queen's University, Belfast. Cardinal Hume will be the first to speak.
