Day two of the Dublin Horse Show saw another large attendance at the RDS grounds where hundreds of ladies from across the country contested the Ladies’ Day competition.
Yvette Byrne (23) from Carlow won the best dressed lady competition, while the best dressed man award went to Adam Kelly of Ashford, Co Wicklow.
The competition on the Band Lawn was judged by RTÉ presenter Brendan Courtney, musician Sharon Corr and hairstylist and milliner Michael Leong. The prize for the winner was a €10,000 trip to California's Napa Valley.
Other highlights of day two of the horse show were the Ukrainian Cossacks who drew huge response from the crowd and Knight Frank's Power & Speed competition, one of three international horse riding events held in the main arena.
The five-day show has over €940,000 in prize money on offer, of which €625,000 is dedicated to the 15 international show jumping competitions.
The most interest today in the equestrian area was on the running order for the FEI Nations Cup, which will take place tomorrow for the prestigious Aga Khan Trophy.
Ireland was drawn in seventh place, which is, according to the jumping experts, not a bad place to be in such a major competition where eight nations are taking part.
In pole position will be France followed by The Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. The United States is drawn next followed by Great Britain, and the final slot goes to Germany, one of the favourites to win the trophy.
President Mary McAleese will attend the Nations Cup tomorrow and will present the Aga Khan trophy to the winning team. This will be her last visit to the grounds as President, and the occasion will be marked by the Royal Dublin Society.
