Celtic have completed the signing of striker David Fernandez from Livingston after the player passed his medical.

The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Parkhead club after agreeing personal terms.

Fernandez helped Livi towards a UEFA Cup place in their first ever campaign in the top flight after joining from Airdrie in March last year.

The centre-forward has joined the club in a £1 million deal, which Livi manager Jim Leishman will now use towards strengthening his own squad.

The Spaniard's goals last season had helped the West Lothian side to a UEFA Cup place, but he will now be facing the test of the Champions League.

Fernandez began his career in Scotland when he joined Steve Archibald at Airdrie from Deportivo.

He moved for free to Livingston last March after the collapse of the former Scotland international's bid to buy over the Lanarkshire club.

His move to Celtic comes 24 hours after Livi re-signed forward David Bingham and offered a deal to former Argentina midfielder Sergio Berti.
