Charge brought over Hallowe'en stabbing

A man (22) is to appear in court today in connection with the death of a young man on Hallowe'en night.

A man (22) is to appear in court today in connection with the death of a young man on Hallowe'en night.

The body of Jamie Lonergan (21) was found in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, early on November 1st near the scene of an altercation at a bonfire in the town. He died from multiple stab wounds.

Gardaí began a murder investigation, and six people were held and later released without charge. A file was prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Detectives this morning confirmed that a man had been charged in connection with Mr Lonergan's death and is due to appear in Tipperary District Court today.
