Charges against four Belfast men arising out of a Sinn Fein protest at a temporary RUC post at Castle Court shopping mall were dropped at the Magistrates Court yesterday.

Mr Sean Montgomery, of Cliftonville Avenue; Mr Brian Wooten, of Brompton Park and Mr James Quinn, of Friendly Way, had been charged with riotous behaviour, and Mr Dermot Quinn, of Doon Road, Lenadoon, with disorderly behaviour.

They had all been on bail since their arrest several months after protesters clashed with police last December. A prosecution lawyer gave no reason for withdrawing the charges.
