The Irish Timeshas donated its old computer equipment to an Irish charity which sends computers and volunteers to schools in Africa.
So far, 229 computers, 65 monitors and 12 printers have been removed from the former Irish Timesbuilding on Dublin's D'Olier Street. The newspaper's staff left the building last October to move into new offices in Tara Street.
The charity, Camara, sent the first computers to Zambia last Saturday and a second shipment will soon be sent to Ethiopia.
Camara ( www.camara.ie) refurbishes computers discarded by Irish companies before sending them to schools and colleges in sub-Saharan Africa.
